Ressurection

I have no idea of the shape of this blog. When I know I'll share it with you. I only know after tonight I want to speak about my experiences on the road.
So be it!

Selling my Ish

I'm back. This weekend I had a great time at Day with Dolls in Mt. Vernon. Originally I expected to make dolls and had a great idea to sell my remnants. The Creator had another plan, one who's bandwagon it didn't take me too long to get with. While my inquiry didn't reveal an available space, one became available in a few weeks. So clearly it was a go.
For a few days leading to the event I pulled fabric out from spaces I didn't remember I had. There was sooo much! And that's on top of giving 550 yards away a few months ago. I finally had to stop going through bins.
I had a great response from the ladies. Many told me my fabrics were great. One in particular gave a heartfelt response regarding my work. I also took a few garments so they could get a broader idea of my work and the connection w/my fabrics.
A good day was had by me and I made not one doll.
peace!

$$$$ vs. Art

In San Diego I found myself at Borders. Yes I did look at both Fiber Arts Mag and Quilting Arts.
--But only for a moment-- My usual excitement just wasn't there. I did say I'd go back in the next week to look some more. I spent the next hour and a half w/my head buried in personal finance books. It's where I am at the moment. However, I have been dreaming of my next piece. All it takes is a small piece of fabric, a brush and some paint. Having neither of those on hand, I'm going to bed. I'll pick this up on the morrow.

Walk the Walk

I made 2 stops on SONYA's annual studio walk. The first was Sankofa Ceramics Collective. Enjoyed their work and the growth of the collective. The second was Deborah Singletary, an artist who makes wonderful assemblages, dolls and.....Love her work. I even bought a piece. Interesting since I left my checkbook home for the simple reason I wasn't going to spend any $.

Nevertheless, the afternoon was great for me. Just needed to be in an art environment. Mmm...Delicious.

Post like Crazy

The challenge is to post everyday for month. Now I came into the game late, but I took it on simply because I want to challenge myself. So here goes: I have been totally defunct in terms of my work. The deal: I have a deadline coming up and I know writing about it engages my mind and my fingers.

Returning

I couldn't get in. Would you believe I forgot my passcode. Arrgh!!!That's what happens when I ain't doing it ongoingly. Okay a brief beat up and I'm done. And it's cool because I haven't set up a schedule yet.
The snow has come and gone. Thanks for the rain. The streets feel cleansed.

Another late nite at the computer.

It's A New Day. An Ode to James

Greetings:
It's now 5am and most of the snappy soliloquies that resided on the tip of my tongue have now gone the way of the wind. Mind you, I've been at the creation of this blog since midnight. Plenty of time you say. Maybe not! The idea to create this blog came while listening to an artist telesummit preview. I arrived back at the studio/home after a rigorous 2-hr workout ready to work. Armed with a glass of sparkling apple cider and a few bites of cheese, work is exactly what I did. I spent a little time looking at artist's blogs, picking my template and thinking about what I wanted to create.

On another note I'm absolutely happy to announce it’s my birthday. Already this feels like a great year. A year in which a lot of creating will take place. A year to take a look at where I’ve been living in the past and am willing to move from that place.

Eyelids slowly closing. More to come in the near future.
